About the Extract Images from PDF

Extract Images from PDF inspects the image layers decoded while each selected page is rendered. It collects qualifying images, removes exact duplicates and packages the results in one ZIP.

The exported PNG or JPG files are rendered copies rather than original compressed streams. This makes extraction browser-compatible and transparent about its limits: vector illustrations and some flattened page compositions are not separate image layers.

Frequently asked questions

Are these the original embedded image files?
No. They are new copies of image layers as PDF.js decodes and renders them, so original compression and metadata are not retained.
Why was an illustration not found?
It may be vector artwork, part of a flattened full-page scan, smaller than the selected minimum size or rendered as a composite rather than a separate image layer.
Are duplicate images included?
Exact rendered duplicates are removed from the result to avoid repeated logos and backgrounds.
