About the Rotate & Flip Image

Sometimes a photo comes in sideways or needs mirroring. This tool rotates an image in 90-degree steps and flips it horizontally or vertically.

Each change updates a live preview, and rotating by 90 or 270 degrees swaps the width and height so nothing is cut off. When it looks right, download the edited image.

All editing happens in your browser, so your image stays private.

Frequently asked questions

Does rotating lose quality?
The geometry is preserved exactly, but the browser creates a new file. PNG is lossless; JPG and WebP can introduce normal re-encoding compression.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Everything happens locally in your browser.
Why do width and height swap after rotation?
A 90-degree or 270-degree rotation changes a landscape canvas into portrait, or vice versa, so the output dimensions are exchanged to keep the complete image visible.
Are EXIF orientation and animation preserved?
The displayed orientation is rendered into a new still image. Source EXIF metadata and animated frames are not preserved in the exported file.
Does rotating change the image dimensions?
A 90 or 270 degree rotation swaps width and height. A 180 degree rotation and horizontal or vertical flips keep the same dimensions.
