About the Scientific Calculator
The scientific calculator extends everyday arithmetic with trigonometric functions, inverse trigonometry, natural and base-10 logarithms, square roots, powers, factorials and mathematical constants.
Switch between degree and radian modes before evaluating sine, cosine or tangent. The expression display lets you build multi-step calculations with parentheses instead of solving each part separately.
A purpose-built parser evaluates every expression locally without using eval. This keeps the calculation predictable, private and reusable by a future ToolsOnDuty API.
Key features
- Degree and radian angle modes
- Trigonometric and inverse functions
- Logarithms, roots, powers and factorials
- Constants pi and e, plus previous answer reuse
How to use
- 1Choose Deg or Rad for trigonometric calculations.
- 2Build an expression with the keypad or keyboard, closing any function parentheses.
- 3Press = or Enter to calculate, and use Ans to insert the previous result.
Frequently asked questions
- When should I use degrees or radians?
- Use degrees for angles written from 0 to 360. Use radians for calculus, advanced mathematics and angles expressed with pi.
- What is the difference between log and ln?
- log calculates the base-10 logarithm, while ln calculates the natural logarithm with base e.
- How do I calculate a square or another power?
- Enter the value and press x² for a square. For another exponent, type the caret symbol followed by the exponent, such as 2^8.
- Are expressions sent to a server?
- No. The expression parser and all calculations run entirely in your browser.
