About the Sentence Counter

Sentences are detected by their ending punctuation: a period, question mark or exclamation mark closes one sentence and starts the next.

Frequently asked questions
- How is a sentence counted?
- Sentences are split on terminal punctuation - a period, question mark or exclamation mark. A run of text ending in one of those marks counts as a sentence.
- Does an abbreviation like Mr. count as a sentence?
- Periods inside abbreviations can be counted as sentence ends, so counts may be slightly high for text with many abbreviations. The count is a close estimate.
- Is my text uploaded anywhere?
