About the Movie Poster & Magazine Cover Maker

Movie Poster & Magazine Cover Maker is a private browser design studio for two related but distinct editorial formats. Movie Poster mode creates exact 2000 × 3000 artwork, while Magazine Cover mode creates exact 1800 × 2400 covers using the same direct-manipulation workflow.

Eight original directions cover cinematic epic, modern noir, midnight horror, indie festival, fashion editorial, culture journal, business leader and travel escape. Switching templates preserves your uploaded artwork and editorial copy, so a style change does not silently discard the work already entered.

Upload a main photo, an optional secondary cutout or inset and an optional logo or award mark. Select and drag those layers directly on the preview, then refine hero-image crop, zoom, rotation, brightness, contrast, saturation and blur or independently size and rotate the secondary image.

Poster mode includes a fitted title, kicker, tagline, release line and compact billing credits. Magazine mode includes a masthead, multiline cover stories, issue, price and optional decorative barcode. Fonts, alignment, title size, placement, outline, shadow, gradients, accent colours, overlays and graphic textures remain editable.

The studio exports PNG, JPG or WebP at the stated pixel dimensions and saves versioned project files with embedded artwork. It does not generate people or scenes with AI, remove backgrounds, provide licensed stock assets, embed professional print colour profiles or replace legal, editorial and prepress review.

How to use

  1. 1Choose Movie Poster or Magazine Cover, then select the closest visual template.
  2. 2Upload your main photo. Use a high-resolution image with room around the subject for headlines and cover lines.
  3. 3Drag the main photo on the live preview and refine zoom, rotation, brightness, contrast, saturation and blur.
  4. 4Optionally upload a transparent secondary image and logo, select each layer and drag it into place.
  5. 5Replace the title or masthead and edit the poster tagline, release line and credits or the magazine cover stories, issue and price.
  6. 6Select the title layer to drag it, then adjust font, alignment, size, outline and shadow for readable hierarchy.
  7. 7Customize the background gradient, accent, text, overlay and texture while checking contrast over the photo.
  8. 8Enable the preview-only safe area to keep important content away from uncertain crop or trim edges.
  9. 9Choose PNG, JPG or WebP and download at the exact pixel dimensions reported by the selected mode.
  10. 10Save a project JSON when you want to preserve embedded photos and editable settings for another browser session.

Examples

Create an original thriller poster
Input: Owned portrait, Modern Noir style, red accent, original title, tagline and fictional credits
Output: 2000 × 3000 high-contrast theatrical poster

Use accurate credits and names only when you have permission; the editor does not create endorsements or distribution rights.

Build an indie festival concept
Input: Landscape still, Indie Festival template, quiet serif title and original screening line
Output: Editorial 2:3 poster suitable for a digital pitch or event concept

Festival laurels and logos should only be added if the work actually received the represented recognition.

Design a fashion magazine cover
Input: Licensed portrait, Fashion Editorial layout, three original cover stories, issue and price
Output: 1800 × 2400 newsstand-style cover image

A fictional cover must not imply participation in or endorsement by an existing publication.

Continue a cover project later
Input: Main photo, transparent logo, custom colours, copy and layer positions
Output: Versioned ToolsOnDuty cover project with embedded images

Project files can be large because artwork stays embedded locally instead of being uploaded to ToolsOnDuty.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool generate a movie poster or model with AI?
No. It composes photos, text, colours and graphics you provide. It does not generate people, scenes, costumes or editorial copy with an AI service.
What sizes are exported?
Movie Poster mode exports exactly 2000 × 3000 pixels. Magazine Cover mode exports exactly 1800 × 2400 pixels in PNG, JPG or WebP.
Can I drag elements directly on the cover?
Yes. Select and drag the main photo, secondary image, logo or title. Sliders provide precise sizing, rotation, placement and photo adjustments.
Does the tool remove an uploaded photo background?
No. Use a transparent PNG or WebP when an inset or logo needs transparency. Opaque image backgrounds remain visible.
Is the displayed barcode valid for retail distribution?
No. It is a decorative editorial element, not a registered UPC, EAN or ISSN-linked barcode. Replace it in a professional publishing workflow before retail use.
Are the billing credits automatically legally correct?
No. They are editable display text. Film billing order, guild requirements, contracts and trademark notices must be reviewed by the production's legal and distribution teams.
Can I make a cover for an existing magazine brand?
Only with appropriate trademark, copyright and endorsement permission. Do not publish a design that misleadingly appears to be an official issue of another publication.
Are uploaded photos sent to a server?
No. Cover composition, project generation and export are designed to happen locally in the browser.
Is the export ready for professional printing?
It provides exact RGB pixel dimensions, not guaranteed DPI metadata, CMYK conversion, bleed, spot colours, font licensing or a printer-approved proof. Confirm those requirements with the printer.
Will the cyan selection border or yellow safe area be exported?
No. Both are editor-only guides and are removed from downloaded images.
Can I use celebrity photos or film stills?
Only when you have the necessary copyright, publicity, model-release, trademark and commercial permissions. The tool does not license uploaded material.
