About the Online Clipboard
ToolsOnDuty Online Clipboard transfers text, images and supported files between your devices using a six-digit passcode, private link or QR code.
Shared content is held temporarily in non-public cloud storage so another device can retrieve it. Files are served only through the protected application endpoint and do not receive a public storage URL.
Each share expires after 24 hours or three confirmed retrievals, whichever happens first. The creator also receives a private Delete Now capability for immediate removal.

Frequently asked questions
- Where is shared content stored?
- Content is held temporarily in non-public cloud storage. We retain only the content and operational information needed to deliver the share, enforce its expiry and track its remaining retrievals.
- How long does a share remain available?
- A share expires after 24 hours or three confirmed retrievals, whichever happens first. The creator can also remove it immediately with Delete Now.
- What counts as a retrieval?
- Text counts after it is successfully received by the browser. A file counts only after its complete response is received and the browser acknowledges the receipt. Failed or interrupted downloads are not acknowledged.
- Can anyone retrieve my content?
- Anyone who knows the six-digit code or possesses the private link can retrieve it. Treat both as temporary secrets and share them only with the intended recipient.
- Which files are supported?
- Common images, PDF, Office documents, CSV, Markdown and plain text are supported up to 10 MB. Executables, scripts, disk images and archives are blocked.
- Why are only six-digit codes offered?
- Four-digit codes are too easy to guess. Six-digit lookups are also protected by a hashed-IP attempt limit.
- Do you store raw IP addresses?
- The service converts connecting IP addresses into a protected one-way hash for daily sharing and access limits. Raw IP addresses are not stored in clipboard records.
- What happens when Delete Now is used?
- The private creator token authorizes immediate removal of the shared content and its operational record. ToolsOnDuty cannot recover the share afterward.
