Important: Enhancement can exaggerate noise, halos and compression artefacts. Compare against the original and use the lowest effective strength.

About the Photo Enhancer

Photo Enhancer measures the image's tonal range, expands flat contrast and applies an adjustable sharpening kernel to visible edges.

Start with Gentle for portraits or compressed photos, Balanced for ordinary scans and Strong only for clearly soft sources. Inspect high-contrast edges for halos and flat areas for amplified noise.

Processing is deterministic and local, so the tool does not invent faces or scene details. Images above 2400px on the longest side are reduced for responsive processing.

Key features

Frequently asked questions

Can it fix a badly blurred photo?
No. Sharpening improves visible edges but cannot reconstruct information lost to severe blur.
Why is a huge image resized?
The longest side is capped at 2400 pixels to keep browser memory and processing responsive.
What artifacts should I check?
Inspect hair, text and high-contrast edges for bright or dark halos, and inspect skies or skin for amplified compression noise. Reduce the strength when these appear.
Does it use a server?
No. Pixel processing runs locally.
