Screen Density Converter (dp, px, pt)
Convert dp and pt to pixels across Android densities and iOS scales.
| Density | DPI | Pixels |
|---|---|---|
| ldpi | 120 | 18 px |
| mdpi | 160 | 24 px |
| hdpi | 240 | 36 px |
| xhdpi | 320 | 48 px |
| xxhdpi | 480 | 72 px |
| xxxhdpi | 640 | 96 px |
Android baseline is mdpi (160 dpi), where 1 dp = 1 px. iOS points scale by the device @1x/@2x/@3x factor.
About the Screen Density Converter (dp, px, pt)
Android measures UI in density-independent pixels (dp) and iOS uses points (pt). Both map to different pixel counts depending on the screen density.
This converter shows the pixel value for a given dp or pt across every Android density bucket and iOS scale, so your assets and sizes line up on all devices.
The baseline is 160 dpi (mdpi), where 1 dp equals 1 px.
Key features
- dp to px for ldpi through xxxhdpi
- pt to px for @1x, @2x and @3x
- Instant table update
- Runs entirely in your browser
How to use
- 1Enter a value in dp (Android) or pt (iOS).
- 2Read the pixel value for each density and scale.
- 3Compare the generated Android and iOS pixel values across density classes.
Examples
24 dp72 pxxxhdpi is 3x the baseline, so 24 dp becomes 72 px.
Frequently asked questions
- What is dp?
- A density-independent pixel. It keeps UI a consistent physical size across screens. At mdpi (160 dpi), 1 dp equals 1 px; at xxhdpi (480 dpi) it equals 3 px.
- How does iOS pt relate to px?
- One point equals 1 px at @1x, 2 px at @2x and 3 px at @3x, which is why assets are exported at multiple scales.
- What about sp for fonts?
- sp behaves like dp but also scales with the user's font size setting. For a default font scale, sp and dp convert to the same pixels.
