Security guidance: use opaque Solid redaction for passwords, IDs, addresses and other sensitive data. Blur and pixelation are visual obscuring effects, not guaranteed secure redaction.
Upload an image, then drag boxes over areas to hide.

The download contains flattened pixels without editable redaction layers. Still inspect the exported file before sharing.

About the Image Redactor & Pixelator

Image Redactor helps hide visible information in screenshots and photos. Drag multiple regions over names, addresses, account numbers, faces or other areas, and remove individual regions if the selection needs correction.

Opaque solid redaction replaces pixels and is the recommended mode for sensitive data. Blur and pixelation are useful visual effects but are explicitly not presented as guaranteed secure redaction.

The final PNG is flattened without editable redaction layers. Processing remains local, but every exported file should still be opened and inspected before it is shared.

How to use

  1. 1Upload a browser-readable image within the safety limits.
  2. 2Choose Solid for sensitive data, or Pixelate/Blur only for visual obscuring.
  3. 3Drag boxes over every area that must be hidden and remove inaccurate selections.
  4. 4Download the flattened PNG, reopen it and zoom in to verify all sensitive pixels are covered.
  5. 5Share only the reviewed exported copy, never the original source.

Examples

Redact a support screenshot
Input: Screenshot containing an email address, customer ID and access token
Output: Flattened PNG with opaque black regions

Use Solid—not blur or pixelation—for credentials and identifiers, then inspect the exported pixels.

Frequently asked questions

Is blur safe for passwords or IDs?
No. Blur and pixelation are visual effects and may leave recoverable clues. Use a fully opaque Solid region for sensitive information.
Are redaction boxes editable after download?
No. The PNG contains flattened pixels. Keep the original separately if future edits may be required.
Does it remove EXIF or hidden metadata?
Canvas export normally creates a new PNG without source metadata, but use Metadata Privacy Cleaner and independent review when metadata privacy is critical.
Can it automatically detect faces or text?
No. Regions are selected manually so you remain responsible for reviewing every item that must be hidden.
Is the image uploaded?
No. Selection, redaction and export run locally in your browser.
