About the PDF Bookmarks / TOC Editor

PDF Bookmarks / TOC Editor imports the existing QPDF outline tree and resolves bookmark destinations to physical page numbers. Edit titles and destinations without changing page artwork.

Add chapter or section bookmarks, reorder them, indent or outdent hierarchy levels and choose whether groups are expanded by default. The resulting PDF opens its bookmark panel through the standard UseOutlines page mode.

The output outline tree writes complete Parent, Prev, Next, First, Last and Count relationships. It is then structurally validated and re-imported to compare every title, hierarchy level and destination page.

Frequently asked questions

Does this create a visible TOC page?
No. It creates the bookmark or outline panel used by PDF viewers. It does not insert a visible table-of-contents page.
Can bookmarks be nested?
Yes. Indent a bookmark beneath the nearest previous entry to create chapter and section levels.
Are existing bookmarks imported?
Yes. QPDF resolves existing outline titles, hierarchy and destination pages into the editor.
Are digital signatures preserved?
No. Rewriting bookmark structures changes document bytes and invalidates existing signatures.
