About the PDF Page Labels Editor

PDF Page Labels Editor controls the labels shown in compatible PDF viewer navigation without stamping text onto page artwork. Physical page order and visible content remain unchanged.

Create ranges for unnumbered covers, Roman-numbered front matter, decimal chapters or alphabetic appendices. Each range has a physical start page, number style, optional prefix and starting value.

Existing QPDF page-label ranges are imported into the editor. The output is structurally checked, reopened with PDF.js and re-imported to verify the requested range count.

Key features

Frequently asked questions

Are page numbers printed onto the page?
No. Page labels are navigation metadata shown by compatible PDF viewers. Use Add Page Numbers when visible page artwork is required.
Can I use Roman numerals for front matter?
Yes. Start a lower- or upper-Roman range on the first front-matter page, then add a decimal range where the main document begins.
Do links and text remain intact?
Yes. The tool updates the PageLabels number tree without rasterizing page content.
Are files uploaded?
No. Import, editing, rewriting and verification run locally in the browser.
