About the Sunrise & Sunset Calculator

The Sunrise and Sunset Calculator estimates the sunrise, sunset and solar noon for any point on Earth, given its latitude and longitude, and shows the total length of daylight.

Enter coordinates directly or use a city preset, choose the time zone to display the results in, and pick a date. Times are computed with a standard astronomical model based on the sun's position.

At very high latitudes the tool detects the midnight sun and polar night, when the sun does not rise or set. All calculations run in the browser.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate are the times?
They are an astronomical approximation for sea level and are usually within a minute or two of published almanac values.
What is solar noon?
Solar noon is the moment the sun is highest in the sky, midway between sunrise and sunset. It is not always exactly 12:00 clock time.
What happens near the poles?
When the sun stays up or down for the whole day, the tool reports the midnight sun or polar night instead of a sunrise and sunset time.
